Gauteng province of South Africa

Although Gauteng is the smallest of the nine South African province in terms of land size, it is the economic powerhouse of South Africa and the Gauteng province generates the highest property transfers per year in terms of national property sales .

Johannesburg, also known as Egoli -"place of gold", is the capital of Gauteng. Johannesburg offers a variety of real estate opportunities with property in Sandton, Bryanston, Fourways, Lonehill and property in Midrand. The Midrand area also include the sought after real estate and smallholdings in the Kyalami area. To the west we have property in Randburg, Roodepoort, Krugersdorp, Randfontein and florida with Farms and smallholdings in the Lanseria area where the Lanseria Airport is located.

To the south of Johannesburg prime property are found in Alberton, Bassonia, Glenvista and Mondeor. To the east of Johannesburg we have property available in Germiston, Benoni, Boksburg, Bedfordview, Edenvale and Kempton park where the Johannesburg International Airport is located. Bordering the Freestate we have a wide selection of property in Heidelberg, Meyerton, Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark.

About 50km north of Johannesburg lies Pretoria the second largest city in Gauteng and also the administrative capital of South Africa. Pretoria is also known as the Jacaranda City because of its purple Jacaranda trees that can be found just about everywhere in the city. Pretoria is also home to the government's Union Buildings with its amazing historical architecture.

The Vaal River is the south border of Gauteng seperating it from the Free State province. Here you will find the important industrial and coal-mining towns of Vanderbiljpark and Vereeniging. Vandbijlpark is filled with holiday resorts and just the place to take a boat to the water and has a reputation for it's valuable waterfront property in Gauteng.

Gauteng is home to major Universities including the University of Pretoria, University of South Africa (UNISA), University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) and the Rand Afrikaans University (RAU). UNISA is one of the largest correspondence universities in the world. It is also no surprise then that the majority of South Africa's research and development is hosted in Gauteng Province. It houses most major IT (Information Technology) companies as well as most of Financial Institution head quarters including the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

Gauteng also has significant agricultural land providing fruit, vegetables, dairy products and meat to the cities as well as areas where maize, groundnuts, sunflowers, cotton and sorghum are grown.

Like themost of the interior of the eastern parts of South Africa this is a summer rainfall area. Summers are hot and winters frosty but dry.
